Mrs. Luckett-Kelly has spent five years focusing on the historical portrayal of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. using visual storytelling techniques at Quest Academy in Palatine, IL. She has incorporated several of Dr. King’s stories based on his past involvement in society and has worked at creating an emotional connection to her audience in an effort to remind them how important the past is and how it can become helpful for our future. Her audiences have consisted of preschoolers through eighth graders, parents, families, friends, faculty, staff and special guests.
As a drama teacher, she wanted to emphasize the historical significance of the Civil Rights to the Quest Academy community and build a strong and unified connection between students and adults. She wrote a script each year for their assemblies along with other volunteer faculty and staff. Several of the students performed, danced and sang throughout the production.
Mrs. Luckett-Kelly would like to work with others to help them develop strategies and solutions to better their community.
